This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +2 more states.
• Design, develop, and enhance DSP algorithms for RF communication signals, focusing on waveform processing in dynamic and contested environments (e.g., filtering, synchronization, channelization, detection/estimation, demodulation/decoding, and interference mitigation).
• Lead the development of algorithms from initial concept through to prototype and implementation, ensuring a balance between performance, latency, robustness, and computational limitations.
• Implement and validate DSP solutions across various compute platforms, including Xilinx RFSoC, UltraScale+, and Versal, utilizing PL/PS resources and hardware acceleration as needed.
• Collaborate with FPGA engineers to transform algorithms into hardware-realizable architectures (fixed-point design, throughput/latency optimization, resource trade studies, and hardware-friendly formulations).
• Work in close partnership with embedded software engineers to integrate real-time DSP pipelines (drivers, data movement, DMA, streaming interfaces, buffering strategies, and runtime configuration).
• Develop and execute testing and verification strategies using lab instrumentation and captured RF datasets; assess performance under various impairments (CFO/phase noise, multipath, fading, interference/jamming, and nonlinearities).
• Create simulation and analysis environments (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, Python) and correlate simulation outcomes with hardware/field behavior.
• Provide technical leadership by defining architecture, conducting design reviews, mentoring engineers, and clearly communicating trade-offs to stakeholders.
• Produce comprehensive documentation (DSP design descriptions, algorithm specifications, performance reports, ICD inputs, and SBIR deliverables as necessary).
• Assist with integration, debugging, and field testing activities across DSP, RF, FPGA, and embedded software domains.
• A Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline.
• Over 15 years of relevant experience in DSP engineering with a proven track record in delivering RF communication signal processing solutions.
• Demonstrated practical experience in processing RF communication signals (beyond academic examples), including development, validation, and performance characterization.
• Strong foundational knowledge in communications and statistical signal processing (detection/estimation, synchronization, spectral analysis, filtering, and modulation/demodulation concepts).
• Experience in implementing DSP on embedded/real-time systems and/or hardware-accelerated platforms, including Xilinx UltraScale+, RFSoC, and Versal.
• Ability to simulate and/or model DSP algorithms in an appropriate environment (MATLAB, Modelsim, etc.), with the capability to define or implement fixed-point functions when applicable.
• Proven ability to devise innovative DSP solutions when standard methods fall short—demonstrating creative problem-solving skills with strong analytical rigor.
• Proficient in at least one of the following: Python, C/C++, HDL (VHDL or Verilog), MATLAB (or an equivalent), with disciplined software engineering practices.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (RF, FPGA, embedded, systems) to deliver comprehensive system solutions.
• U.S. Citizenship and an active DoD Secret (or higher) security clearance (or the ability to obtain one).
• Health insurance
• Retirement plans
• Paid time off
• Flexible work arrangements
• Professional development
