Senior DOT Compliance Instructor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +20 more states.

📋 Description

• Deliver detailed guidance on pre-trip and post-trip inspections in line with DOT regulations and company policies.

• Conduct training sessions focused on DOT regulations, FMCSA requirements, and workplace safety protocols.

• Mentor, coach, and support the development of professional drivers.

• Exhibit leadership qualities during training to reinforce safety and compliance standards.

• Ensure that West and Central field operations adhere to DOT and FMCSA regulations.

• Oversee and update Driver Qualification Files, which includes administering or coordinating necessary road tests for new hires.

• Perform internal audits and assist in formulating corrective action plans.

• Aid in DOT audits by preparing essential documentation and supporting the DOT Manager.

• Utilize ELD platforms and safety management systems for data analysis, trend identification, and improvement recommendations.

• Travel 70–80% of the time to job sites, yards, and field locations across the West and Central regions.

• Work collaboratively with the DOT compliance team on training and compliance initiatives.

• Investigate incidents, analyze patterns, and advise or collaborate on corrective measures with the DOT Manager.

• Act as a safety resource for drivers.

• Advocate for defensive driving practices and safe vehicle operation.

• Reinforce safety protocols among field teams.

• Foster positive working relationships with field teams to promote safety, professionalism, and accountability.


⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in field training, commercial transportation, fleet safety compliance, or a related field is required.

• At least 2 years of experience in DOT training, safety instruction, or compliance oversight is necessary.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Public Safety, or Logistics is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

• Law enforcement or military experience may be considered.

• Experience as a State Trooper, Highway Patrol Officer, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer, or DOT Inspector is highly desirable.

• CVSA North American Standard Level 1 Certification (Part A and B) is required or the ability to obtain it.

• Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of applications.

• Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.

• Extensive knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.

• Familiarity with maintaining proper documentation as mandated by federal DOT law and company policies.

• Understanding of ELD platforms and safety management systems.
