Senior Distinguished Technologist – Pre-Sales AI, Data Center Networking

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Serve as the lead technical architect during intricate sales processes, collaborating independently or with Sales Engineers to convert business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

• Design comprehensive networking infrastructure solutions, showcasing extensive knowledge in data centers, AI networking, hyperscale environments, and WAN technologies.

• Spearhead solution design and customization, coordinating contributions from specialists, systems engineers, and product teams to fulfill customer needs.

• Provide engaging demos, proof-of-concept presentations, and technical showcases that effectively communicate the value of HPE Networking in various customer scenarios.

• Collaborate with hyperscalers, large enterprises, service providers, and technology partners to co-create solutions that address emerging industry challenges and workloads.

• Shape technical strategy throughout deal validation, solution development, and initial execution, ensuring a seamless transition to delivery teams.

• Create best practices, enablement materials, and architecture playbooks to scale solutions both internally and with partners.

• Guide and offer technical mentorship to junior technologists and sales engineering teams.

• Navigate and adapt to complex technology transitions while maintaining thought leadership in networking innovations and industry trends.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field is required; an advanced degree is preferred.

• Over 20 years of technical experience in network infrastructure architecture, design, and solutions consulting, particularly in large-scale AI and Cloud Data Center environments within hyperscale networking.

• More than 20 years of industry experience applying technical expertise with JunOS, EOS, IOS, and hyperscale network architecture frameworks.

• JNCIE or an equivalent certification is required.

• Extensive hands-on experience with hyperscale routing, MPLS traffic engineering, switching, SDN overlays (EVPN/VXLAN, MP-BGP), Network Fabrics, DCI solutions, network provisioning, automation, and monitoring.

• Knowledge of major networking silicon, hardware platforms, and associated software (e.g., Juniper, Arista, Cisco, SONiC, Cumulus, etc.) is essential.

• Subject Matter Expert in virtualization technologies on x86 and scaling using technologies such as DPDK, SR-IOV, and SmartNICs.

• Proven track record in complex pre-sales roles, demonstrating a strong ability to build relationships with senior technical and C-Level stakeholders.

• Experience with programming/scripting (Python, APIs, JSON, etc.) for solution integration and automation purposes.

• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the capability to influence diverse technical and business audiences.

• Demonstrated experience in designing and developing playbooks, and delivering demonstrations or live walkthroughs for a wide range of networking products, solutions, tools, and services.

• Proficient in preparing RFP/Tender response documents, including compliance with the RFP, bill of materials, commercial/pricing, and solution documents to facilitate a successful response.

• Willingness to travel up to 50%, including potential international travel on short notice.
