
Senior Director, Revenue Recognition – Accounting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee global revenue accounting operations, encompassing monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities related to revenue and deferred revenue.
• Ensure accurate, complete, and timely revenue recording in compliance with ASC 606 and company policies.
• Manage the design, documentation, and execution of internal controls related to revenue, focusing on control optimization and remediation.
• Collaborate with Internal Audit and External Auditors to facilitate audits, reviews, and complex accounting inquiries.
• Develop operating metrics and dashboards to assess revenue quality, closing performance, and operational efficiency.
• Act as the company's leading subject-matter expert on ASC 606 and complex SaaS revenue arrangements.
• Review and authorize non-standard contracts, pricing structures, concessions, amendments, and intricate deal constructs.
• Create and maintain revenue recognition policies, accounting position papers, and technical memos.
• Evaluate accounting implications of new products, pricing models, go-to-market strategies, and strategic initiatives.
• Convert technical accounting conclusions into clear, actionable guidance for cross-functional stakeholders.
• Supervise Order Management processes to guarantee contracts are structured and processed to enable accurate revenue recognition.
• Collaborate closely with Sales, Deal Desk, and Legal to balance deal velocity with accounting and control needs.
• Promote simplification and standardization of contract structures and order workflows.
• Ensure alignment between contractual terms, system configurations, and downstream accounting treatments.
• Lead automation and transformation initiatives across the entire Order-to-Cash lifecycle, including quoting, contracting, billing, revenue recognition, and reporting.
• Serve as a key finance stakeholder for revenue-related systems and integrations.
• Spearhead process redesign efforts to minimize manual effort, enhance scalability, and strengthen controls.
• Guarantee data integrity and consistency across systems that influence revenue and cash flow.
• Advocate for the use of AI and advanced analytics to enhance revenue operations, contract review, anomaly detection, forecasting inputs, and closing efficiency.
• Work with Business Systems to identify and implement AI-enabled solutions that improve accuracy, speed, and control.
• Establish governance and control frameworks around AI-assisted processes to ensure reliability, auditability, and compliance.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, experimentation, and responsible adoption of emerging technologies.
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing global revenue accounting and order management team.
• Define clear roles, responsibilities, and development pathways to scale the organization in line with business growth.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on revenue-related matters.
• Clearly communicate complex accounting and operational topics to both finance and non-finance audiences.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification is required.
• 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, with extensive knowledge of SaaS revenue recognition.
• Expert understanding of ASC 606, including complex, multi-element, and non-standard arrangements.
• Proven leadership experience in overseeing revenue accounting, order management, or O2C functions.
• Experience in a high-growth, public, or pre-IPO SaaS environment.
• Strong grasp of internal controls, audit requirements, and scalable finance operations.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with Sales, Legal, Product, and Systems teams.
• Self-motivated individual who identifies opportunities and takes action.
• Big 4 public accounting experience is preferred.
• Experience leading finance automation, systems implementations, or O2C transformations is preferred.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled finance tools, data analytics platforms, or intelligent automation solutions is preferred.
• Global operating experience in a multi-entity environment is preferred.
