
Senior Director, Revenue Accounting – Order To Cash

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of ASC 606 revenue recognition for software subscriptions, professional services, and fund administration service revenue, including bundled agreements.
• Establish revenue policies, standalone selling price methodologies, technical position papers, and internal revenue controls.
• Act as the authority on intricate arrangements, such as multi-element deals, variable and usage-based fees, tiered and milestone billing, and contract modifications.
• Manage the revenue close process within a five-business-day timeframe, encompassing deferred revenue roll-forwards, contract assets and liabilities, unbilled receivables, capitalized commissions, flux analysis, and international consolidation.
• Lead revenue and accounts receivable audit deliverables and defend technical positions with external auditors.
• Collaborate with FP&A on revenue forecasting and the transition from contracted to recognized revenue.
• Assist with acquisition integration and purchase accounting related to revenue.
• Oversee the complete order-to-cash process, including billing operations, daily cash application, accounts receivable aging, and collections.
• Work alongside Deal Desk, Revenue Operations, and Legal on billing and revenue-recognition terms.
• Manage complex billing processes involving variable pricing, usage charges, caps, overages, true-ups, annual uplifts, escalators, and ramps.
• Scale billing operations to accommodate rapid growth and peak fund-administration billing cycles.
• Review high-risk invoices, manage credit memos, days sales outstanding (DSO), credit risk, customer account health, and decisions regarding service suspension.
• Oversee operating metrics such as DSO, aging, collection effectiveness, invoice cycle time, billing error rate, cash-application match rate, and revenue leakage.
• Enhance production Claude workflows and transform manual accounting and operational tasks using AI and automation.
• Lead and develop the revenue and billing team, including both distributed and offshore staff.
• Oversee the systems roadmap across NetSuite, Zone, Salesforce, and Ironclad.
• Collaborate with Deal Desk, Legal, FP&A, Fund Administration, and Customer Experience.
• Take ownership of process improvement and internal controls throughout the revenue and order-to-cash lifecycle.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in revenue accounting along with billing and collections leadership.
• 5+ years of direct management experience.
• In-depth, practical knowledge of ASC 606 and experience defending technical revenue-recognition positions with external auditors.
• Familiarity with software and tech-enabled services.
• Experience with billing variable fees at scale, including usage, consumption, fluctuating asset-based fees, and billing in arrears.
• Proven ability to scale complex, high-volume billing and order-to-cash operations in a multi-entity, multi-currency global environment.
• Proficiency in NetSuite is required.
• Experience with Zone or a comparable NetSuite-native billing system is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with Salesforce for contract, account, and opportunity details.
• Experience with a contract lifecycle management system such as Ironclad is valuable.
• Direct accountability for collections and DSO, with a strong grasp of accounts receivable, cash application, and related metrics.
• Demonstrated ability to leverage AI for enhancing efficiency in accounting and operations workflows.
• Experience leading a distributed team, including offshore personnel.
• Proven track record of process rebuilding.
• Player-coach operating style with high standards, comfort in ambiguity and urgency, and sound delegation judgment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA is strongly preferred.
• Background in public accounting; experience with a Big 4 or national firm is a plus.
• Experience with public company reporting or preparing a private company for a transaction is advantageous.
