This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Provides direction and oversight for APA’s initiatives in professional training and readiness.
• Develops and shapes the vision, scope, and priorities of the training and readiness portfolio.
• Leads programs and initiatives that enhance pathway programs to and throughout graduate education.
• Represents the field of psychology education in policy and program development settings.
• Prepares presentations, comments, and reports.
• Curates and shares information about effective practices and national trends in professional training and readiness.
• Converts research findings into actionable practice and creates resources, guidance, and tools focused on practice.
• Acts as APA’s primary contact and liaison for key groups related to professional training.
• Serves as the doctoral consultant for APA governance groups.
• Responsible for administrative duties, personnel management, and the development, management, and oversight of the portfolio budget.
• A doctoral degree in health service psychology is required.
• A background in neuropsychology is preferred.
• Mid-career scholar with at least 12-15 years of postdoctoral experience.
• A minimum of five years’ experience in psychology education, training, or professional preparation.
• Experience as a program director in health service psychology.
• Management capabilities including strategic planning, fiscal oversight, administrative tasks, and personnel management.
• Proven leadership qualities and public speaking abilities.
• Evidence of national recognition and reputation in the fields of psychology education, training, supervised practice, or professional readiness communities.
• Strong statistical and data analysis capabilities, with the ability to interpret and leverage data for strategy, program development, and decision-making.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal abilities; excellent policy analysis skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, email applications, and virtual meeting platforms.
• Willingness to utilize AI tools to enhance work efficiency and effectiveness is preferred.
