Senior Director, Procurement

📋 Description

• Oversee relationships with hyperscalers and strategic vendors, ensuring a comprehensive approach to commercial terms, go-to-market incentives, product co-development prospects, and partner program benefits.

• Exhibit an ownership mindset by propelling the function forward swiftly while maintaining quality to create significant impact for internal stakeholders.

• Formulate, articulate, and implement a procurement strategy that aligns with GitLab's business goals, enhancing operational efficiency, risk management, and scalable decision-making.

• Manage procurement policies, practices, and systems that facilitate business scaling, mitigate risk, and boost efficiency. Challenge conventional methods and act as a change agent.

• Establish procurement processes, systems, and purchasing controls to promote compliance, increase policy adherence, and enhance operational efficiency across various teams.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external auditors, and advisors to refine procurement, negotiation, audit, and accounting processes.

• Cultivate strong cross-functional relationships to grasp business needs, enhance team member experiences, and ensure procurement programs yield value.

• Direct vendor negotiation strategies and support negotiations to secure better pricing, favorable terms, and measurable business outcomes.

• Develop an AI-driven procurement function by actively identifying opportunities for automation, AI tools, and modern workflows to replace manual tasks, shorten cycle times, and allow the team to concentrate on high-value decisions.

• Establish team KPIs, identify underlying causes of performance gaps, and spearhead improvement initiatives that enhance procurement efficiency and team performance.

• Mentor and grow the procurement team to foster accountability, enhance performance, and support professional development in line with GitLab's values.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in procurement within a technology organization, including leading procurement teams.

• Proven history of developing procurement strategies, operating models, and controls that foster growth and consistency.

• Sound judgment derived from industry expertise, practical experience, and an understanding of business trade-offs.

• Capability to assess diverse stakeholder needs and adapt to evolving policies, practices, trends, and business requirements.

• Strong operational abilities with a background in enhancing procure-to-pay processes for speed, consistency, and quality.

• Experience in crafting vendor negotiation strategies and managing supplier relationships with an emphasis on business value.

• An outcomes-driven leadership approach with experience in goal setting, enhancing team performance, and facilitating the growth of others.

• The ability to devise solutions that address current business needs while laying the groundwork for future scalability in an asynchronous, cross-functional environment.
