This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and implement a detailed annual and multi-year fundraising strategy aimed at increasing revenue from a variety of sources, such as 501(c)(3) foundations, individual donors, 501(c)(4) contributors, Federal PAC contributions, and political bundling.
• Work in partnership with the President and senior leadership to ensure that fundraising strategies are in line with DFER's organizational priorities and long-term growth objectives.
• Build and maintain a strong portfolio of major donors, foundations, political stakeholders, and institutional partners to secure ongoing financial support for DFER's initiatives.
• Identify and nurture new donor prospects, expanding DFER's network across both philanthropic and political funding sectors.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a development team consisting of one full-time director and two part-time staff members, establishing clear goals and fostering professional growth.
• Foster a culture of accountability and high performance within the development team, ensuring that aggressive revenue targets are achieved.
• Establish and sustain effective systems, workflows, and utilize CRM tools to enhance team efficiency and track donor relationships.
• Oversee the stewardship of high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and political stakeholders, ensuring that donors are engaged, informed, and invested in DFER's mission.
• Guarantee timely and compelling donor communications, including impact reports, grant reports, acknowledgments, and updates.
• Supervise the planning and execution of prominent fundraising events, such as donor cultivation events, galas, and candidate fundraisers.
• Collaborate with the Director of Finance & Operations to ensure robust cash flow management, prompt financial reporting to donors, and compliance with grant and donor restrictions.
• Work with the communications team to align messaging across fundraising materials, ensuring consistency with DFER's national brand and mission narrative.
• Monitor and report on fundraising metrics, pipeline health, and outcomes to the President and Board regularly.
• Collaborate with the President to engage the Board of Directors in fundraising efforts, including board member cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship support.
• Prepare and deliver development reports for Board meetings, providing clear updates on revenue performance, pipeline, and strategy.
• Participate in senior leadership discussions regarding organizational strategy, resource allocation, and long-term growth planning.
• Represent DFER at external conferences, donor gatherings, and public forums to promote the organization's mission and expand its philanthropic network.
• 5 to 9 years of progressive experience in nonprofit development, with a proven track record of achieving or surpassing ambitious fundraising goals.
• Experience in managing fundraising across diverse entity types (C3, C4, and/or PAC contexts) is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated success in securing individual major gifts, foundation relations, and/or political fundraising.
• Experience in managing and developing development staff in a dynamic, matrixed environment.
• A background in education, political, or advocacy-focused nonprofit organizations is strongly preferred.
