Senior Director of Application Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Lead technical interactions with hyperscalers and optical module manufacturers to showcase Nokia's cutting-edge optical communication devices.

• Act as the main technical point of contact between customers and engineering teams, ensuring smooth communication and support.

• Create tailored Photonics-based solutions that meet the specific optical interconnect and networking needs of clients.

• Conduct captivating product demonstrations and training sessions to effectively highlight Nokia's PIC and/or DSP technology.

• Gather market insights and customer feedback to guide product development and improve future solutions.

• Promote collaboration among engineering, R&D, sales, and marketing teams to align customer requirements with product offerings.

• Enhance sales enablement initiatives by delivering ongoing technical support throughout the entire sales process.

• Mentor and lead the applications engineering team, nurturing a culture of innovation and customer-focused problem-solving.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.

• 3-5 years of experience in technical sales or applications engineering within the Photonics or Optoelectronics sectors.

• Extensive knowledge of Photonics (InP or SiPho) and/or DSP components.

• Demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior technical decision-makers.

• Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant field (having this would be advantageous).

• Experience in developing or supporting reference designs and system integration for photonic products.

• Knowledge of networking protocols such as Ethernet and OTN.

• Strong network of professional contacts within the photonics and data center industries.
