This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Deliver expertise in the Antiviral therapeutic area and product knowledge through interactions with external medical stakeholders such as healthcare professionals.
• Oversee and assist in field medical initiatives within the designated territory.
• Spearhead, cultivate, and execute the early engagement efforts of the Antiviral Field Medical Director team for assigned Life Cycle Management clinical programs.
• Act as a representative of the Field Medical Director role on designated Life Cycle Management clinical study teams.
• Provide training on compliant interactions with clinical trialists and knowledge of protocols.
• Propose and obtain approval for medical content and associated engagement materials.
• Guide and mentor Field Medical Director colleagues involved in clinical study teams.
• Establish processes to monitor, assess, and characterize the impact of early engagement efforts.
• Strategize and implement independent medical strategies and engagements with assigned external medical stakeholders.
• Address unsolicited medical inquiries with truthful, accurate, and scientifically substantiated information.
• Inform stakeholders about disease states, guideline-based care, and gaps in patient care.
• Identify potential sites for Pfizer-sponsored clinical trials, including those catering to underrepresented patient populations.
• Assist with Investigator Sponsored Research processes.
• Serve as a medical resource for Medical Affairs colleagues and external investigators.
• Provide insights into patient organization structures, capabilities, and population needs.
• Engage in medical, therapeutic area, and asset cross-functional committees.
• Represent Pfizer Medical Affairs at clinical and professional associations.
• Create and implement strategies for medical educational content and Field Medical tactics.
• Sustain scientific communication and collaboration among Medical Affairs, Medical Information, and Field Medical teams.
• Convey scientific information through presentations, written materials, telephone, and virtual discussions.
• Conduct activities in alignment with Pfizer's policies, procedures, and compliance guidelines.
• Meet leadership-defined expectations for engagements with external medical stakeholders.
• MD/DO degree is mandatory.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required.
• Extensive field medical experience in planning and executing early engagement activities with clinical trialists.
• Capability to function as a senior leader and influence outcomes without direct authority.
• Strong strategic thinking, executive presence, analytical rigor, and communication abilities.
• Recognized subject matter expertise among both internal and external stakeholders.
• Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficient in understanding and addressing multiple stakeholder demands while managing conflicts constructively.
• Ability to handle a significant volume of projects in a remote setting, prioritize tasks, implement effectively, and demonstrate sound judgment.
• Experience working within a matrixed, multidisciplinary team environment.
• Capability to lead change and adapt to the evolving healthcare landscape and organizational transformations.
• Proficient in problem-solving and networking across the enterprise.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with peers, internal stakeholders, and external medical stakeholders.
• A self-starter who is accountable, urgent, and focused on delivering medical impact.
• Possesses clinical and technical skills.
• Ability to quickly adopt and utilize new digital technologies and resources while documenting medical interactions.
• Familiarity with internal and external SOPs, regulations, and guidelines concerning Pfizer and external medical stakeholder interactions.
• Previous experience in Field Medical is preferred.
• Current role as an Antiviral FMD and at least 3 years of antiviral FMD experience with a proven record of field medical innovation is preferred.
• Ability to operate a Pfizer company vehicle.
• Willingness to travel frequently by airplane, maintaining flexibility for travel 40–50% of the time.
• Residing near an airline hub city is preferred.
• A valid U.S. driver’s license and a driving record that complies with company standards.
• No DUI/DWI or impaired-driving citations within the last 7 years.
• Must have authorization to work in the U.S. from any employer.
• Permanent work authorization in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not available.
