
Senior Director, Industry Strategy – Advertising

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Act as an authority in the industry.
• Provide extensive knowledge in advertising strategy, creative effectiveness, campaign development, ad testing, and consumer research methodologies.
• Serve as a senior subject matter expert on creative testing, campaign diagnostics, norms, benchmarks, competitive dynamics, and market trends.
• Comprehend the operations of large enterprise organizations, including their processes, politics, agency dynamics, decision-making, budget constraints, stakeholder complexities, and media and creative timelines.
• Keep abreast of emerging trends in advertising effectiveness, AI-generated creativity, synthetic respondents, creative volume, digital and social testing, predictive models, and connected learning systems.
• Act as a reliable internal advisor throughout the organization.
• Contribute to cross-functional go-to-market (GTM) readiness.
• Collaborate closely with Sales, Customer, Product, Product Marketing, Marketing, and Research Science teams on strategic narratives and customer interactions.
• Assist Product Marketing in developing messaging, frameworks, demos, points of view, enablement, competitive insights, and customer-facing materials requiring expert-level knowledge.
• Support enterprise opportunities as a strategic expert and consultant, engaging directly with customers and prospects when advanced advertising expertise is necessary.
• Define how Zappi’s advertising solutions integrate within the creative development lifecycle, from initial creative exploration to validation, optimization, and connected learning.
• Manage the competitive intelligence program for advertising research and creative effectiveness, converting market, competitor, customer, and industry changes into internal guidance and external content.
• Establish external credibility.
• Build a prominent external presence in the advertising effectiveness and creative development sectors.
• Generate thought leadership regarding the future of advertising research, improved creative decision-making at scale, AI in creative development, synthetic methods in ad testing, and connected creative learning.
• Present at conferences, webinars, customer events, and industry forums.
• Interact with analysts, strategic customers, and industry communities.
• Collaborate with Customer Marketing to co-create customer education materials and programs.
• Influence product and strategy.
• Convert customer realities, workflow requirements, agency dynamics, and competitive gaps into actionable product and GTM recommendations.
• Work closely with Product, Research Science, and Commercialization teams.
• Coordinate with Product Marketing, Product, and Commercialization to test emerging AI, synthetic, predictive, diagnostic, and connected-learning capabilities from both methodological and commercial viewpoints.
• Function as an additional voice outside of Product to ensure product direction aligns with real-world customer workflows, buyer expectations, and unmet needs.
• Over 10 years of experience in creative development, ad testing, campaign strategy, consumer insights, advertising effectiveness, or market research.
• Extensive knowledge of advertising research methodologies, including pre-market ad testing, creative diagnostics, campaign learning, norms, benchmarking, and KPI interpretation.
• Experience collaborating with enterprise brands and senior stakeholders across Insights, Marketing, Brand, Media, Creative, Commercial, or Strategy teams.
• Strong understanding of how enterprise teams make advertising decisions, manage creative risks, and link consumer insights to campaign performance.
• Ability to simplify complex advertising methodologies into clear commercial narratives, sales guidance, executive storytelling, and customer-facing points of view.
• Experience in supporting strategic sales, enterprise customer discussions, thought leadership, or consultative growth initiatives.
• Outstanding communication, presentation, and storytelling abilities, with a comfort level in representing the company externally as a senior industry expert.
