
Senior Director, GDO Operational Business Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Align operational strategies with financial objectives, prioritize GDO investments, and create business cases for technology and modernization projects.
• Connect GDO resources to budget allocations, identify efficiencies, and promote awareness, allocation, and management of non-resource expenditures.
• Convert resourcing data into actionable insights for senior leadership and business partners.
• Collaborate with R&D Finance to ensure a shared understanding of GDO budget, targets, and resource planning.
• Assess and quantify resource requirements (staffing, technology, clinical trial expenses) across the Amgen portfolio.
• Oversee staffing capacity among Amgen staff, FSPs, and contingent workers to address portfolio requirements.
• Provide analyses and reports on resource demand and supply, emphasizing variances and financial risks.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a global team while engaging with cross-functional and external stakeholders.
• Promote accountability, innovation, and collaboration; cultivate talent pipelines and enhance critical skills.
• Act as GDO’s senior business owner, conducting analyses to guide executive trade-off decisions regarding budget, costs, technology, and efficiency.
• Collaborate with GDO leadership to develop future resource capability plans.
• Work with GDO functions to adapt to changing business needs, ensuring speed, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
• Advocate for budget awareness and cost drivers; present analyses, scenarios, and recommendations to executive leadership.
• Collaborate with Finance and R&D Strategy & Operations to create and refine resource algorithms and adjust them in real-time.
• Propel continuous improvement and innovation in resource utilization, scenario modeling, and clinical trial technologies.
• Doctorate degree with 5 years of experience in Business Operations, Resource Planning, or Financial Management within Pharmaceutical R&D or Clinical Operations, OR a Master’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience, OR a Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of pertinent experience.
• Over 10 years of experience in financial and/or resource management within clinical operations, including oversight of global teams and large-scale clinical trials.
• Awareness of emerging trends that can significantly enhance agility and efficiency in clinical operations aspects – quality, time, and cost.
• Proven global cross-functional leadership across clinical domains and geographic regions.
• Proficiency in managing timelines, vendor relationships, and project milestones.
• Expertise in evaluating clinical portfolio resource demand and managing changes/variances against resource/supply plans, as well as portfolio-level budget/resource oversight and optimization.
• Capability to analyze data for identifying cost-saving opportunities and enhancing efficiency.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to advance the business through the application of technology and capability-building functional training strategies.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with vendors, partner with IT, and engage with senior leadership.
