Senior Director, Facility Design

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Oversees the planning, design, and execution of facility projects throughout the US Foods Supply Chain network.

• Ensures that all designs adhere to operational, safety, regulatory, and sustainability guidelines.

• Establishes, manages, and executes the US Foods Facility design strategy across various Supply Chain project categories.

• Develops, manages, and implements the US Foods due diligence strategy to support new property acquisitions.

• Creates, manages, and enforces US Foods facility design tenants and standards.

• Guides and mentors Design Project Managers (DPMs), establishing clear expectations, priorities, and performance goals.

• Works collaboratively with Engineering, Construction, Operations, Supply Chain Network Planning & Automation, Facilities, and Real Estate teams.

• Verifies that designs meet all regulatory standards, safety requirements, and company design specifications.

• Reviews and approves design documentation, drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance and quality.

• Develops and executes a multi-year project delivery and pricing model in collaboration with both internal and external partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in facility design.

• Proven experience leading extensive, complex, multi-site capital programs.

• Experience in industrial facility design and architectural planning.

• Knowledge of site development, permitting, and regulatory compliance processes.

• Expertise in capital budgeting and cost engineering.

• Familiarity with lean facility design principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, construction standards, and operational design needs.

• Demonstrated ability to deliver innovative, high-quality, and compliant design solutions.

• Experience working with cross-functional teams and external consultants.

• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilities.

• Willingness to travel to operating sites as necessary.

• Experience in vendor negotiation and contract management (A/E, GC, automation).

• Background in risk mitigation and scenario planning.
