This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Take charge of the technical vision, architecture, and roadmap for Developer Experience platforms, which encompass:
• Developer portals and internal platform products.
• CI/CD pipelines and systems for code delivery.
• Container-based developer and runtime environments, including orchestration and lifecycle management.
• API platforms, service templates, and established "golden paths".
• Tools for observability, reliability, and operations.
• Lead DevX platforms as products, ensuring:
• Clear ownership and accountability.
• Roadmaps shaped by genuine developer needs.
• Defined expectations for reliability, security, and service.
• Serve as a hands-on technical leader by:
• Reviewing architecture, designs, and system patterns.
• Applying sound engineering judgment to decisions regarding platforms and tools.
• Making well-informed trade-offs among scalability, security, reliability, and usability.
• Providing extensive technical leadership across diverse engineering environments, including modern backend, frontend, mobile, data, and distributed systems technologies.
• Utilizing a strong understanding of various programming paradigms (object-oriented, functional, reactive, event-driven) to ensure that DevX initiatives reflect how engineers genuinely write and maintain code.
• Being responsible for the strategy and health of core repositories, which includes:
• Code organization and modularization.
• Management of dependencies, versions, and releases.
• Shared libraries, frameworks, and reuse patterns.
• Secure, compliant contribution and governance models.
• Integrating Developer Experience into:
• Incident management and postmortems.
• Reliability and SRE practices.
• Initiatives for a secure software supply chain.
• Change and release management.
• Ensuring that DevX platforms and tools are:
• Secure and resilient by default.
• Observable and managed with production standards.
• Fostering a culture of automation, self-service, and continuous engineering enhancement.
• Over 15 years of experience in software engineering, which includes:
• Substantial hands-on development, system design, and production operations experience.
• Direct participation in the construction and operation of complex, distributed systems.
• Proven ability to leverage previous engineering experience for platform architecture, code delivery, and technical strategy.
• In-depth expertise in:
• Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including large-scale production operations.
• Container-based platforms and orchestration technologies.
• CI/CD systems, developer tooling, and code delivery pipelines.
• Polyglot software architectures and contemporary application frameworks.
• Observability, reliability, and SRE practices.
• Strong familiarity with:
• Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Trade-offs in multi-cloud and hybrid architecture.
• Solid comprehension of:
• Secure software supply chains.
• Compliance and regulatory requirements typically found in the automotive sector.
