This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia.
• Provide strategic leadership and comprehensive oversight of regionally-managed level 1 response operations.
• Ensure that programs are executed consistently and in alignment with organizational priorities.
• Develop and evaluate program strategies.
• Supervise operational performance.
• Identify opportunities for ongoing improvement, emphasizing client experience, capacity building, and community mobilization.
• Ensure that community response initiatives are supported by scalable, sustainable infrastructure and integrated workflows among teams, partners, and technology platforms.
• Design adaptable, community-informed strategies.
• Maintain visibility into the entire operational ecosystem, from field execution to foundational support systems.
• Lead the integration of community response and recovery operations priorities into the organization’s overall strategic plan.
• Ensure alignment between strategic goals, operational capabilities, and infrastructure readiness.
• Recruit, manage, and assess both direct and indirect staff.
• Engage volunteers in a meaningful manner.
• Collaborate proactively with colleagues across various functions.
• A Bachelor's degree is required.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• 7 years of management experience.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically, are essential.
• Ability to develop and implement an organizational vision that integrates key American Red Cross goals, priorities, values, and other considerations is crucial.
• Capability to balance change and stability.
• Commitment to enhancing customer focus and organizational performance within the Red Cross framework.
• Ability to design and implement strategies that foster the development of direct reports and others within the organization.
• Ability to cultivate integrity and trust while fulfilling the organization’s vision, mission, and goals.
• Proven ability to make timely and effective decisions and achieve results through strategic planning and the execution and assessment of programs and policies.
• Demonstrated capability to acquire and manage human, financial, material, and informational resources in a way that builds public trust.
• Proficiency in utilizing new technology to enhance decision-making while promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
• Ability to articulate, advocate, and present facts and ideas persuasively, negotiating with individuals and groups both internally and externally is required.
• Capacity to develop a wide professional network with other organizations.
• Ability to recognize the internal and external political factors that influence the organization's work.
