Senior DevOps, Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, and manage cloud infrastructure within Azure and AWS commercial settings to support Kaseware’s customer deployments.

• Administer and oversee Kubernetes clusters (AKS, EKS), including upgrades, networking, RBAC, storage, and platform-level tools.

• Create, update, and sustain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, encompassing modules, state management, and multi-environment deployment patterns.

• Implement and manage GitOps continuous delivery employing ArgoCD; develop and maintain workflows with Argo Workflows where suitable.

• Create and maintain Helm charts, including templating, dependencies, and release management.

• Develop, sustain, and enhance CI/CD pipelines and automation throughout the development and deployment lifecycle.

• Instrument, monitor, and troubleshoot cloud and Kubernetes workloads utilizing Datadog and other observability tools (such as Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic stack, Fluentd, Istio, etc.).

• Assist with customer installations and provide consultation on deployment topology for both cloud and on-premises environments.

• Manage development environments and developer tools to ensure engineering teams remain productive.

• Take part in production incident response and on-call rotations across distributed time zones, supporting any Kaseware system except U.S. federal government protected environments.

• Contribute innovative ideas, tools, and patterns to the Kaseware technical stack, as we encourage every team member to innovate.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 4 years of professional experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or Cloud Infrastructure roles.

• Extensive expertise in Kubernetes platforms, including cluster lifecycle management, networking, RBAC, CSI/storage classes and provisioners, and ingress controllers (NGINX or similar); proficient with kubectl.

• Practical experience with Terraform – capable of creating new modules, modifying existing ones, managing state, and handling multi-environment workflows.

• Production experience with ArgoCD and GitOps deployment methodologies; familiarity with Argo Workflows is advantageous.

• Experience in authoring Helm charts – including templating, dependencies, releases, and CLI usage.

• Knowledge of container technologies (Docker, BuildKit, container registries), including image creation, local testing, and registry management.

• Strong Linux administration skills and command-line proficiency.

• Experience with cloud platforms, specifically Azure and AWS commercial environments; particularly AKS and EKS.

• Familiarity with cloud databases and data services, particularly PostgreSQL; experience with NoSQL databases like ArangoDB or MongoDB is a plus.

• Experience in observability and monitoring, including production work with Datadog and/or similar tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Fluentd, and Istio.

• Understanding of networking concepts, technologies, and troubleshooting (DNS, TLS, routing, load balancing).

• Experience in designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar platforms); strong grasp of the software development lifecycle and workflows.

• Thorough understanding of Git repositories, branching strategies, and the Git CLI.

• Proficiency in scripting and/or programming in Bash and Python.

• Proven ability to manage and automate deployments for complex applications across both cloud and on-premises environments.

• Experience with Single Sign-On and Identity Providers, especially Keycloak (preferred).

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of collaborating effectively across distributed teams and time zones.

• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks in line with team objectives, and function effectively in an asynchronous remote environment.
