This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more state.
• Establish and enhance reference CI architectures for GitHub Actions throughout Product Engineering.
• Create strategies for job decomposition, parallelization, caching, artifact management, test partitioning and execution, as well as multi-platform builds.
• Collaborate with teams to revamp slow or unreliable pipelines through focused engagements with measurable results.
• Enhance the CI developer experience by simplifying the diagnosis and resolution of failures.
• Develop tools, abstractions, and templates that establish best practices as the standard approach.
• Lead performance optimizations at the application layer encompassing build and compilation strategies, dependency management, and toolchains.
• Work with service and application owners to improve test architecture and minimize test flakiness.
• Convert CI metrics into actionable architectural modifications.
• Assist teams in understanding CI signals and prioritizing impactful fixes.
• Co-create standardized workflows and guidelines with the CI Platform.
• Partner with CI Platform and product engineering teams across various codebases and ownership areas.
• Proven experience in designing or enhancing CI/CD pipelines, ideally with GitHub Actions.
• Practical skills in boosting build and test performance through compilation caching, dependency optimization, parallelization, and test sharding or partitioning.
• Extensive knowledge of multi-platform builds and testing across macOS, Windows, and Linux.
• Strong foundations in software engineering and systems thinking.
• Effective debugging skills utilizing logs and metrics to identify bottlenecks and implement fixes across multiple layers.
• Ability to collaborate across teams and codebases while influencing outcomes without direct authority.
• Familiarity with build systems or toolchains such as Rust, Node/pnpm, or mobile toolchains is advantageous.
• Experience with monorepos, large-scale CI, or initiatives aimed at enhancing developer productivity is a plus.
• Background in developing internal tools like CLI tools, workflow generators, or reusable actions/workflows is beneficial.
• Experience using observability data, such as Datadog CI metrics, to guide performance enhancements is a bonus.
