• Take ownership of ECAD design execution for the designated scope, ensuring planning, coordination, and delivery align with program schedules and engineering specifications.
• Execute hands-on ECAD design and layout for intricate printed circuit card assemblies, including multilayer rigid, flex, and high-density interconnect (HDI) designs.
• Assist in schematic capture and layout implementation while managing electrical and physical constraints (high-speed, high-voltage, high-current).
• Relay design status, technical risks, and schedule implications to engineering stakeholders and program teams.
• Engage in and contribute to cross-functional design reviews involving Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Configuration Management.
• Create and maintain comprehensive ECAD documentation packages, including fabrication, assembly, and design documentation.
• Oversee ECAD data within PLM systems and ensure adherence to configuration management standards.
• Apply DFM (Design for Manufacturability), DFA (Design for Assembly), and DFT (Design for Test) principles throughout the layout process.
• Diagnose complex design challenges and resolve electrical, mechanical, and manufacturability issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Offer technical direction and informal mentorship to junior designers while fostering knowledge sharing across the ECAD team.
• Promote compliance with ECAD standards, library usage, and best practices throughout various programs.
• Coordinate ECAD activities for smaller projects or defined work scopes.
• Generally requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
• At least 5 years of relevant prior experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field combined with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
• Proficient in PCB layout using ECAD tools (Siemens Xpedition preferred; Cadence Allegro, Altium, or similar tools are acceptable).
• Experience in designing multilayer PCB layouts and supporting complex electrical designs.
• Skilled in managing electrical and physical constraints within PCB design tools.
• Familiarity with Siemens Xpedition (VX or 2504 versions) for advanced PCB layout design is preferred.
• Knowledge of advanced PCB technologies (HDI, microvias, stacked microvias, flex circuits, backplanes).
• Experience with DDR4 / DDR5 and considerations for high-speed design.
• Understanding of signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) principles.
• Familiar with DFM/DFA/DFT implementation in PCB design.
• Acquainted with ECAD–MCAD data exchange processes.
