Senior Database Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malta.

📋 Description

• Assess current MS SQL, MySQL, and hybrid (Azure/AWS/on-prem) database architectures and their maturity in observability;

• Set up and oversee monitoring tools such as SQL Sentry;

• Analyze database performance benchmarks, resource utilization trends, and configurations for high availability;

• Recommend AI-enhanced monitoring, anomaly detection, and automated self-healing solutions for database operations;

• Resolve intricate issues related to database infrastructure and applications;

• Create and update thorough technical documentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• A university degree paired with a decade of relevant IT professional experience;

• Proficient experience in Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL databases;

• Familiarity with Azure, AWS, and hybrid database environments;

• Expertise in database performance tuning, monitoring, and optimization;

• Practical experience with database monitoring tools like SQL Sentry;

• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex database and application challenges;

• Knowledge of High Availability (HA) principles and best practices in database architecture;

• Experience with AI-driven monitoring, anomaly detection, or database automation is a plus;

• Strong command of the English language.
