Senior Database Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Safeguard database security and manage authentication processes.

• Design and implement least privilege access and encryption protocols for all databases.

• Develop and enforce standards for database documentation.

• Oversee and implement database replication and ensure high availability.

• Maintain and enhance the existing backup and data recovery infrastructure.

• Create and uphold disaster recovery plans, participating in regular testing.

• Install and upgrade database environments as needed.

• Manage database migrations across systems, versions, or platforms.

• Conduct query optimization and database performance tuning.

• Manage database resources and generate reporting.

• Execute Root Cause Analysis on database incidents and recommend preventive measures.

• Monitor database performance metrics and proactively address issues.

• Collaborate with teams to enhance query performance.

• Participate in an on-call rotation as required.

• Maintain and develop various database scripts and tools to streamline automation processes.

• Automate routine database maintenance tasks to boost efficiency.

• Assess database requests for implementation feasibility.

• Provide status reports to management and keep them informed.

• Deliver training and mentorship to team members.

• Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support the business and its evolving needs.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or an equivalent GED.

• A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant database administration experience with Oracle Server, Mongo, MSSQL, MariaDB, and PostgreSQL.

• Proficiency in UNIX, LINUX, and Windows operating systems.

• Experience in scripting using command-line, batch processes, or similar methodologies.

• Capability to work with large-scale databases.

• Understanding of data models and their applications.

• Knowledge of data visualization techniques and data migration processes.

• Preferred additional knowledge in:

• o Azure SQL Server Administration.

• o Azure Synapse.

• o Dynamics data models.
