This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.
• Oversee, monitor, maintain, and enhance Microsoft SQL Server environments throughout the entire enterprise.
• Establish and advocate for database standards, governance, and best practices within the organization.
• Contribute to the design of data architectures, including data integration strategies, schema development, data quality, storage solutions, and performance factors.
• Install, configure, update, and manage SQL Server and associated database products.
• Take ownership of and improve backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes to guarantee operational continuity.
• Implement and uphold database security measures consistent with enterprise and regulatory standards.
• Lead efforts in performance tuning, query optimization, archiving, and comprehensive data lifecycle management.
• Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on SQL scalability and advanced data storage issues, planning and executing improvement initiatives.
• Specify non-functional requirements (NFRs) for new services during the design phase.
• Engage in technical design discussions and represent operational and platform considerations.
• Assist in low-level solution design for new products and technology implementations.
• Provide troubleshooting, consulting, and technical support to development teams and the broader IT department.
• Enhance legacy database environments through analysis, modernization, and operational improvements.
• Share insights with the broader infrastructure team through documentation, technical overviews, and collaborative support.
• Extensive hands-on experience in administering Microsoft SQL Server within large-scale enterprise environments.
• Demonstrated expertise in database monitoring, backup/recovery, patching, security, and performance optimization.
• Familiarity with high-availability, resilience, and scalability across various database platforms.
• Strong understanding of database architecture, schema design, and principles of data integration.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Background in complex, business-critical infrastructures with demanding operational needs.
• Excellent communication skills and the capability to collaborate with architecture, infrastructure, and engineering teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
