This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +18 more states.
• Manage and uphold various multi-terabyte databases across both SQL Server (on-premises and Azure VMs) and Azure SQL (PaaS) platforms.
• Take ownership of backup, restore, and recovery processes.
• Design, automate, and routinely test backups to align with established RPO and RTO targets, and lead recovery initiatives as necessary.
• Monitor and optimize database and query performance; identify and resolve bottlenecks, blocking, and indexing problems across high-volume transactional and analytical workloads.
• Implement and uphold database security and data privacy measures, including access management, encryption, and auditing to comply with our regulatory responsibilities.
• Create, develop, and manage SSIS ETL packages along with other data integration and data movement workflows.
• Oversee high availability and disaster recovery setups (Always On availability groups, failover groups, geo-replication), collaborating with development teams on schema design, query optimization, and the safe implementation of database modifications.
• Over 8 years of practical database administration experience, with considerable time spent managing extensive, production SQL Server environments.
• Proficient T-SQL skills and proven experience with Azure SQL, SSIS, and database security and privacy measures.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field, or equivalent experience is mandatory.
• Relevant Microsoft data platform certifications (e.g., Azure Database Administrator Associate) are advantageous.
• Self-motivated and reliable; you can be entrusted to oversee critical systems with minimal supervision and act as a credible support to our Director of Database Services.
