This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +34 more states.
• Support the management of AWS RDS instances by monitoring the health of databases, pinpointing performance concerns, and engaging in root-cause investigations.
• Take part in a rotating on-call schedule to guarantee 24/7 database availability and swift responses to production incidents across our global infrastructure.
• Carry out quarterly patching, monthly index assessments, and backup integrity verification within a live production environment.
• Enhance your T-SQL expertise by engaging in code reviews and aiding Developer and TechOps teams with query optimization and execution.
• Use Python, PowerShell, and other scripting languages to create or sustain automation tools (e.g., AWS Lambdas, GitHub Action workflows, etc.).
• Oversee user permissions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and disaster recovery runbooks while ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks (including HIPAA, HITRUST, and SOC2) across all database systems.
• 1–3 years of experience in a DBA or Database Support position; must have practical exposure to a live, production-level environment.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2019 or later.
• Practical knowledge or a solid understanding of core AWS services (RDS, Lambda, State Machines, CloudWatch).
• Proficiency in T-SQL; familiarity with Python and PowerShell for automation tasks.
• Strong comprehension of ACID properties, indexing, backup/restore strategies, and database security.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate closely with distributed DevOps and TechOps teams, along with a clear dedication to supporting the on-call rotation.
