Senior Database Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain high-quality applications utilizing React.

• Scale and optimize high-throughput PostgreSQL clusters.

• Take ownership of PostgreSQL reliability essentials.

• Assist in building and operating vector data functionalities.

• Establish production patterns for embeddings.

• Enhance high-availability, disaster recovery, point-in-time recovery (PITR), and backup strategies.

• Minimize manual operational tasks by implementing automation.

• Elevate observability and the quality of alerts.

• Improve database security through effective access controls.

• Contribute to contemporary platform initiatives.

• Collaborate with service, AI, and platform teams.

• Engage in on-call rotations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience managing PostgreSQL in high-volume production settings.

• In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL internals and operational practices.

• Practical experience with high availability and read scaling techniques.

• Familiarity with connection pooling and traffic management for PostgreSQL.

• Hands-on experience with VectorDB or vector search methodologies.

• Ability to analyze vector index types and their operational trade-offs.

• Experience with CI/CD, GitOps, and Infrastructure-as-Code processes.

• Strong fundamentals in cloud, Linux, storage, and networking.

• Proficiency with containers and orchestration platforms.

• Keen security awareness concerning access control, credential lifecycle, and encryption practices.
