This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Administer, configure, and maintain databases for Db2 on z/OS, Db2 LUW, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and AWS.
• Oversee schema design, indexing strategies, data partitioning, compression, and workload management for high-throughput transactional and analytical systems.
• Implement and validate backup/restore, high availability/disaster recovery, log shipping, replication, and failover strategies.
• Perform in-depth performance tuning, including query optimization, execution plans, parallelism, memory management, I/O, buffer pools, and connection management.
• Uphold security standards, encompassing encryption, secrets management, key rotation, least-privilege roles, and auditing practices.
• Develop infrastructure-as-code patterns for effective database provisioning and configuration.
• Automate routine tasks utilizing PowerShell, Python, and Bash, including jobs for checks, patching, and reporting.
• Act as a subject matter expert for architecture reviews, capacity assessments, and database design consultations.
• Provide mentorship to junior DBAs/engineers, establishing best practices, runbooks, and knowledge repositories.
• 8–12+ years of advanced DBA experience with Db2 (both z/OS and LUW), SQL Server, and PostgreSQL, including production ownership in enterprise settings.
• Practical mainframe experience with TSO/ISPF, JCL, Linux, Db2 utilities, and performance analysis using SMF/IFC data and Db2 traces.
• Demonstrated AWS experience managing databases on RDS/Aurora and EC2, along with a strong understanding of networking, storage, IAM, and monitoring (CloudWatch).
• Proficient in performance tuning and query optimization; skilled in execution plans, indexing, partitioning, and maintenance of statistics.
• Strong expertise in backup/restore, replication, high availability/disaster recovery, and business continuity across both on-premises and cloud environments.
• Practical automation capabilities using PowerShell, Python, Bash, and mainframe scripting (REXX, JCL).
• Thorough understanding of security, compliance, and audit processes; experienced in encryption, RBAC, auditing, and key management.
• Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and incident leadership skills, particularly under pressure.
