Database Administrator, DBA

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Lithuania.

📋 Description

• Implement high availability and disaster recovery measures, ensuring that RPO/RTO objectives are achieved for core banking systems.

• Develop and execute a scalability strategy, encompassing partitioning, sharding techniques, and capacity planning.

• Conduct thorough query optimization, execution plan evaluations, and proactive identification of bottlenecks.

• Create and oversee scalable inference and connection pooling strategies (PgBouncer) along with robust backup and restore automation processes.

• Design the monitoring framework (Prometheus, Grafana, VictoriaMetrics) and establish SLIs/SLOs for database performance health.

• Adopt banking-grade security protocols, including credential management and compliance-focused data handling practices.

• Collaborate with product teams to ensure that database schema modifications and architectural choices are conducive to a high-load environment.

• Elevate the DBA function by setting technical standards, mentoring team members, and engaging in hands-on implementation.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in high-load, production settings (preferably in Fintech or critical systems).

• In-depth knowledge of index design (B-tree, GIN, GiST, BRIN), as well as partitioning and vacuum tuning techniques.

• Demonstrated expertise in designing streaming replication, clustering, and automated backup validation processes.

• Practical experience with cloud-managed PostgreSQL (especially GCP) and Linux systems administration.

• Skilled in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD processes (GitLab, ArgoCD).

• Proficient in crafting complex queries, stored procedures, and functions.

• Experience in developing monitoring and alerting systems for databases (Prometheus/Grafana).

• Fluent in English.
