Senior Data Test Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement testing strategies for data pipelines and analytics solutions.

• Ensure the integrity of data flows through bronze, silver, and gold medallion architecture layers.

• Assess ETL processes, focusing on data quality rules, exception handling, default logic, and transformation precision.

• Confirm data consistency, completeness, and integrity between source and target systems.

• Evaluate self-service analytics outputs, including presentation logic, calculations, filters, and aggregations.

• Validate reporting solutions to ensure accuracy, usability, and alignment with business requirements.

• Identify, document, and follow up on defects, inconsistencies, and data-related issues.

• Collaborate with data engineers, business analysts, developers, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and desired outcomes.

• Provide senior-level testing criteria, risk-based insights, and quality recommendations throughout the delivery lifecycle.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience as a Test Engineer, QA Engineer, or Data Test Analyst in intricate data environments.

• Practical experience testing medallion architecture or layered data architectures.

• Solid background in validating ETL processes.

• Comprehensive understanding of data quality testing, covering completeness, accuracy, duplication, reconciliation, and consistency checks.

• Proficient in testing exception scenarios, defaulting rules, and edge cases within data pipelines.

• Experience in validating self-service analytics solutions, including calculations, aggregations, data presentation, and report outputs.

• Capability to work independently.

• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.

• Effective communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders.

• Experience in banking, financial services, or highly regulated environments is a plus.

• Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms or modern data lakehouse methodologies is advantageous.

• Knowledge of SQL for data validation and reconciliation is preferred.

• Experience with BI or reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or similar is beneficial.

• Experience working in Agile delivery teams is a plus.

• Previous exposure to automated data testing frameworks or test management tools is a bonus.
