Senior Data Test Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement testing strategies for data pipelines and analytical solutions.

• Verify data flows within the bronze, silver, and gold medallion architecture layers.

• Assess ETL processes, encompassing data quality rules, exception handling, default logic, and transformation precision.

• Ensure data consistency, completeness, and integrity between source and target systems.

• Validate outputs of self-service analytics, including presentation logic, calculations, filters, and aggregations.

• Test reporting solutions for accuracy, usability, and alignment with business objectives.

• Identify, document, and address defects, inconsistencies, and data-related issues.

• Collaborate with data engineers, business analysts, developers, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and expected outcomes.

• Provide senior-level testing criteria, risk-based perspectives, and quality recommendations throughout the delivery lifecycle.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience as a Test Engineer, QA Engineer, or Data Test Analyst in complex data environments.

• Practical experience testing medallion architecture or layered data frameworks.

• Strong background in validating ETL processes.

• In-depth understanding of data quality testing, including completeness, accuracy, duplication, reconciliation, and consistency checks.

• Experience in testing exception scenarios, default rules, and edge cases in data pipelines.

• Proven experience validating self-service analytics solutions, including calculations, aggregations, data presentation, and report outputs.

• Capability to work independently.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Effective communication skills for interaction with both technical and business stakeholders.

• Preferred: experience in banking, financial services, or highly regulated sectors.

• Preferred: familiarity with cloud-based data platforms or modern data lakehouse methodologies.

• Preferred: knowledge of SQL for data validation and reconciliation.

• Preferred: experience with BI or reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or similar.

• Preferred: experience working in Agile delivery teams.

• Preferred: previous exposure to automated data testing frameworks or test management tools.
