This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +30 more states.
• As a member of the Product Analytics team, shape Wikipedia’s strategy for anti-abuse and security.
• Work in collaboration with product managers, engineers, designers, research scientists, security engineers, and other team members.
• Contribute to the development strategy of products and assess the effects of features and interventions.
• Establish measurement strategies to identify bots and suspicious account activities.
• Analyze and devise heuristics and methodologies to uncover potentially abusive behaviors.
• Assist in the development and evaluation of AI models aimed at detecting harmful user-generated code.
• Provide recommendations regarding product direction and data strategies.
• Present quantitative data and insights to guide strategic and product-related decisions.
• Communicate findings and data-driven recommendations effectively to cross-functional stakeholders.
• Create and implement measurement strategies and assess experiments utilizing Bayesian and Frequentist methods.
• Conduct quantitative research.
• Develop queries and code for extensive internal and external data repositories using technologies like Apache Iceberg, Hive, Druid, Presto, and Spark.
• Construct automated self-service dashboards employing DBT, Airflow, and Superset.
• Assist teams in feature instrumentation, execute data quality assurance, and utilize A/B testing tools.
• Manage workload effectively and choose suitable analytical methods.
• Proficient in experimental design and statistics or machine learning techniques.
• Familiarity with AI coding assistants for data analysis and technical tasks.
• Proficient in R or Python.
• Experienced with version control and command-line tools.
• Proficient in SQL and managing large-scale data.
• Proven experience working with product development teams in a dynamic environment.
• Availability for crucial meetings and synchronous collaboration between 13:00 and 19:00 UTC.
• Ability to articulate data and insights clearly to audiences without technical backgrounds.
• Possess curiosity and critical thinking capabilities.
• Show empathy and commitment towards Wikimedia's volunteer communities.
• Exercise discretion and competence when dealing with sensitive or confidential information.
• Commitment to Wikimedia’s mission, values, and guiding principles.
• Self-driven with the capability to navigate through ambiguity and complexity.
• Previous experience in trust and safety, information security and privacy, fraud, or anti-abuse is preferred.
• Familiarity with ethical data management and privacy practices is a plus.
• Experience with Wikimedia or open-source projects is advantageous.
• Experience utilizing Superset, Growthbook, or other open-source testing, visualization, or reporting tools is beneficial.
