This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Create and implement machine-learning, analytics, NLP, and generative-AI solutions utilizing both structured and unstructured data.
• Develop multi-stage workflows that convert documents and free text into dependable, actionable results.
• Construct and assess predictive models, prioritization, classification, analytics, and decision-support workflows.
• Implement rigorous methodologies for data quality, experimentation, model evaluation, validation, monitoring, and human review.
• Identify underperforming methods, uncover root causes, and either redesign or discontinue solutions when evidence does not favor deployment.
• Develop solutions with consideration for provenance, lineage, privacy, reproducibility, data governance, and AI governance.
• Collaborate with technical teams, domain experts, clients, and leadership to convert complex requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Assume ownership from unclear problem definitions through evaluation and production.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience in Data Science or a related discipline.
• Extensive hands-on experience in delivering data science or machine-learning systems beyond initial prototypes.
• Proficient in Python and SQL.
• Strong foundation in statistics, machine learning, experimentation, and data analysis.
• Relevant experience with unstructured data, including document processing, information extraction, NLP, text analytics, or LLM-based workflows.
• Proven ownership of technically intricate projects, covering data, architecture, evaluation, failure analysis, and production deployment decisions.
• Ability to comprehend how upstream data quality and extraction errors influence downstream models and decisions.
• Strong analytical judgment with a readiness to question assumptions when results do not align.
• Public Trust Clearance is required; the employer will assist the candidate in obtaining it.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Must have resided in the United States for three or more consecutive years.
• Experience in healthcare, life sciences, government, regulated industries, or other high-accountability settings is highly preferred.
• Must be capable and willing to secure a Public Trust Clearance.
