Senior Data Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the Snowflake warehouse and the dbt project across raw, transformation, and warehouse layers.

• Oversee data models, testing, versioned model contracts, and semantic definitions that support reporting.

• Manage ingestion from approximately 25 sources via dlt and Dagster, including assets, schedules, sensors, and freshness checks.

• Operate AWS infrastructure defined in CDK, encompassing Step Functions, Lambda, S3, Athena, and Iceberg.

• Drive observability in Datadog through dashboards, monitors, Snowflake usage and cost visibility, and alerting.

• Identify and resolve pipeline and data-platform failures while preventing future occurrences.

• Utilize AI tools throughout your work and contribute to shaping an AI-first data team.

• Collaborate with and report to the Head of Data & Analytics Engineering.


⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in SQL and possess hands-on production experience with a cloud warehouse; Snowflake preferred, or BigQuery or Redshift.

• Solid experience with dbt, including incremental models, tests, and macros.

• Hands-on experience with Segment and web tracking instrumentation.

• Experience in managing clickstream event schemas, identifiers, and campaign parameters.

• Confident in Python for ingestion, orchestration, and service code development.

• Familiar with modern orchestrators such as Dagster, Airflow, or Prefect, including retries, backfills, and freshness.

• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code and cloud fundamentals; AWS with CDK or Terraform is ideal.

• Capability to deploy and troubleshoot your own infrastructure.

• Deep familiarity with AI tools; experience with MCP is particularly intriguing.

• Ability to work independently within a remote team.

• Organized, self-motivated, and adept at managing priorities.

• Strong multitasking and project management abilities.

• Experience with dlt or marketing and CRM API ingestion is a plus.

• Familiarity with BI tools, especially Hex, is advantageous.

• TypeScript knowledge is a bonus.

• Experience in e-commerce, travel, marketplace, or subscription-based businesses is a plus.
