This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop, implement, and monitor compliance with data governance policies, standards, and procedures to uphold data quality, integrity, and security.
• Collaborate with essential stakeholders, including business unit leaders, Product, Data & Technology teams, to establish and execute data governance capabilities and apply standardized data processes by extracting metadata, certifying data, and evaluating internal systems of record along with publicly available data sources to assess data quality.
• Work alongside Business and Technical Data Stewards to identify, define, and maintain data definitions and associated metadata across various business functions and data domains.
• Review and document requirements for translating or transforming sourced data into the data warehouse.
• Enhance the quality of sourced data through data profiling, creation of data quality rules, monitoring, root-cause analysis, and resolution of data issues.
• Maintain the Data catalog with lineage information (field definition, domain, source system, intermediary and destination system(s), translations, transformation rules, display screens, referenced reports, etc.), Data Stewards, and Data Custodian information along with versioning for historical analysis and audit trails.
• Ensure the consistent provision of high-quality insights to key stakeholders by completing report certifications and validating dashboards and reports promptly.
• Identify opportunities for internal process enhancements to automate manual data governance processes, optimize metadata collection, and redesign data catalog infrastructure for improved scalability.
• Assist in identifying Personally Identifiable Information (PII) data in primary data sources and data architecture, and define masking and other processing rules for PII data management.
• Improve data quality utilized for analysis by evaluating the accuracy of new data sources and the effectiveness of new data collection techniques.
• Design and develop custom workflows using Groovy scripting to automate data governance processes.
• Design and configure metadata models that accurately reflect the organization’s data assets and metadata asset model.
• Experience with or assistance in implementing MDM tools.
• Create training materials, use case documentation, and implementation specifications.
• Define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and document technical processes to monitor and analyze data governance, data cataloging performance, and data accuracy.
• Contribute to the data professional team by leveraging expertise to address inquiries, sharing templates, reusable artifacts with less experienced colleagues, enhancing their skills and competencies, and disseminating business domain knowledge throughout the team.
• Engage in stakeholder reviews and design sessions.
• Lead and/or support the facilitation of working groups, workshops, and training sessions to bolster Data Governance Awareness and Data Literacy.
• Provide data, reports, and information to management as required.
• Identify, track, and monitor trends and preventable technology-related errors; collaborate across functions to develop intricate solutions, improvements, and stop-gaps.
• Focus on the continuous enhancement of policies, procedures, and processes within the scope of authority.
• Utilize expertise to resolve high-level issues that cannot be addressed by teammates.
• Stay updated on the latest technology trends and engage in high-level decisions affecting the direction of the Information Technology function.
• Oversee the data catalog's ingestion of data assets and address issues related to ingestion, lineage, or performance.
• Foster strong communication, partnerships, and stakeholder management with senior leaders, functional managers, and staff.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor's Degree related to the position or equivalent in Information Management, Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field is required.
• A Master's Degree directly related to the position or equivalent, preferred in Information Management, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
• A combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
• Minimum of five years of experience in data governance, data management, or similar roles.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
• Hands-on experience working with data stewards and owners is essential.
• Proficiency in SQL, Snowflake, and Power BI.
• Proven experience with querying and analyzing data from SQL relational databases, including Aurora DB, IBM DB2, MemSQL, MS SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres, Snowflake, and NoSQL.
• Strong business acumen, strategic thinking abilities, and capacity to build effective business partnerships.
• Solid understanding of data issues affecting user experience and the necessary remediations to resolve these issues through business processes and technical capabilities.
• Knowledge of Mortgage and Privacy Laws is preferred.
• Proven experience using Data Governance tools, e.g., Collibra, to design and build operating models, import or export content, customize dashboards & widgets, views, and create automation workflows.
• Strong knowledge of data management principles, data quality, data security, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience in workflow development and/or business process diagramming.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to tackle complex data-related challenges.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying data governance concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Comfortable presenting to all levels of management.
• Strong project management skills with a proven history of collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and juggle multiple priorities.
• Self-starter with the capacity to adapt to changing requirements and work independently.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
