This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Estonia.
• Pipeline Development and Optimization: Construct and maintain dependable, scalable ETL/ELT pipelines utilizing contemporary tools and best practices to ensure effective data flow for analytics and insights.
• Data Modeling and Transformation: Create and execute efficient data models that cater to business requirements, facilitating high-quality reporting and subsequent analytics.
• Collaboration Across Teams: Partner closely with data analysts, product managers, and fellow engineers to grasp data requirements and provide solutions that align with business objectives.
• Ensuring Data Quality: Design and implement data quality checks, validation frameworks, and monitoring processes to guarantee the consistency, accuracy, and reliability of data.
• Performance and Efficiency: Detect and resolve performance challenges in pipelines, queries, and data storage. Recommend and execute optimizations that improve speed and reliability.
• Security and Compliance: Adhere to data security best practices and ensure that pipelines comply with data privacy and regulatory standards.
• Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Experiment with new tools and methodologies by developing Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and conducting performance benchmarks to identify optimal solutions.
• Automation and CI/CD Practices: Assist in the creation of robust CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI or similar) for data workflows, promoting automated testing and deployment.
• 4+ years of experience in data engineering or backend development, emphasizing the construction of production-grade data pipelines.
• 2-3+ years of experience utilizing AWS services (Administration of Redshift is essential).
• Strong experience with AWS services (Spectrum, S3, RDS, Glue, Lambda, Kinesis, SQS).
• Proficient in Python and SQL for data transformation and automation tasks.
• Experience with dbt for data modeling and transformation processes.
• Solid understanding of streaming architectures and micro-batching to meet real-time data requirements.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for data workflows (preferably GitLab CI).
• Knowledge of event schema validation tools/solutions (Snowplow, Schema Registry).
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. Strong problem-solving skills—capable of investigating data issues, proposing solutions, and delivering clean, reliable results.
