Senior Data Engineer, PostgreSQL

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and enhance a high-performance, enterprise-level data platform for financial markets / FX.

• Handle data for 46 currency pairs.

• Manage approximately 40 million messages daily.

• Process data in near real-time.

• Oversee large-scale data storage with a retention period of 2 years.

• Integrate the platform with messaging systems, such as RabbitMQ.

• Provide downstream teams with regularly updated data, with refreshes available every second.

• Ensure high availability, scalability, and optimal performance.

• Design solutions capable of supporting large data volumes in a challenging financial landscape.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive commercial experience with PostgreSQL.

• Strong understanding of PostgreSQL architecture.

• Practical experience with table partitioning.

• In-depth knowledge of database indexing and query optimization.

• Familiarity with B-Tree, Hash, GIN, GiST, and/or BRIN indexes.

• Experience in building or maintaining ETL processes.

• Experience in large-scale / Big Data environments.

• Good understanding of Linux.

• Experience in performance-critical database environments.

• Fluent in Polish and English.

• Proficiency in Python, Kafka or RabbitMQ, Apache Airflow, and CI/CD is a plus.

• Background in the banking, financial services, or FX sectors is an advantage.

• Experience with real-time or near real-time data processing is beneficial.
