Senior Data Engineer, Finance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with finance, accounting, billing, and revenue teams to convert pain points into self-service, dependable, and scalable data solutions.

• Guide team members and advocate for engineering excellence throughout the organization.

• Oversee initiatives from design to execution with significant ownership and autonomy.

• Propose and lead organization-wide initiatives that shape the financial data vision and roadmap.

• Manage essential data integration pipelines and models for consistent, reliable, timely, and accurate financial reporting.

• Influence finance data systems through design, technical decisions, project management, and execution.

• Assist with monthly and quarterly book closing, retailer invoicing, and both internal and external financial reporting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in a Data/Software Engineering role concentrating on building data pipelines with a focus on financial data.

• Extensive knowledge of cloud-based data warehouses such as Snowflake, Redshift, and BigQuery.

• Strong production expertise in Python, Airflow, Spark, Iceberg, and Delta Lake.

• Advanced data modeling experience, including handling complex financial data with an emphasis on scalability and usability.

• Proficient in SQL and dbt (Data Build Tool).

• Experience in constructing high-quality, complex ETL/ELT pipelines, particularly for accounting and billing.

• Familiarity with data immutability, auditability, slowly changing dimensions, or related concepts.

• Capable of effectively communicating with cross-functional stakeholders to drive requirements and design shared datasets.

• Able to balance urgency with the delivery of high-quality, pragmatic solutions.

• Experience working on a large codebase within a cross-functional team.

• Preference for experience with SOX-controlled data systems.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent work experience is preferred.
