This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• As the inaugural Senior Data Engineer at CUJU, you will establish the company's data infrastructure.
• Your goal is to convert fragmented data from various systems into a dependable, scalable, and actionable data layer that facilitates: Clear business metrics (e.g., MAU, retention)
• Informed product decision-making
• Insights into future player performance
• Define and execute essential data models (users, events, performance)
• Design and manage robust, production-ready data pipelines
• Create a single source of truth for essential business and product metrics
• Organize data for business and product analysis (retention, funnels, activation)
• Build and launch data services and jobs on AWS (e.g., S3, Lambda, ECS/EKS, Glue, Athena, Redshift, etc.)
• Make pragmatic choices regarding data storage, processing, and access
• Assess and implement tools (e.g., BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks) when they provide clear benefits
• Ensure the architecture is scalable with product, AI, and data growth while avoiding overengineering
• Optimize pipelines for scalability, cost-effectiveness, and performance.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-structured Python code adhering to software engineering best practices.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, AI, and Business teams.
• 5-7+ years of professional experience in data-centric roles (data engineering, ML engineering, or equivalent).
• Proficient programming skills in Python (focusing on clean architecture, testing, and modular design beyond simple scripts).
• Strong SQL capabilities with experience in designing analytical schemas.
• Practical experience in constructing production data pipelines and services.
• Extensive experience with AWS and cloud-native data architectures.
• Familiar with infrastructure concepts (CI/CD, monitoring, logging, deployments)
• Comfortable dealing with imperfect, real-world data and adapting to evolving requirements.
• Experience in fast-paced or early-stage environments
• Excellent English communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional and international teams.
