Senior Data Engineer – Contract

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• As a member of our Data Engineering team, you will collaborate with dynamic, innovative companies, utilizing Cloud as the central element of their transformation journey.

• They will view you as a trusted advisor, someone they can count on to assist them throughout their experience with Google Cloud.

• Your expertise will be required across a wide array of technology subjects, including ETL/ELT, Data Warehousing, Distributed Data Processing, and Streaming Data systems.

• NOTE: This position is a 6-month Contract with the possibility of extension.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a data engineer or in a similar engineering role.

• Proficient in Python or a JVM language (Java, Scala).

• Advanced SQL skills and experience with relational databases, including query authoring (SQL) and familiarity with various database systems.

• Experience with cloud data warehouses, specifically BigQuery or Snowflake.

• Practical experience working with data platforms on public cloud in a production environment.

• Experience with GCP native data tools is preferred.

• Proven experience in building ELT or ETL pipelines that handle large volumes of data.

• Familiarity with dbt or Airbyte is a plus.

• Experience in developing production-level Spark or Hadoop applications.

• Exposure to workload scheduling and orchestration tools, such as Apache Airflow or Cloud Composer.

• Understanding of modern DataOps practices (e.g., quality engineering, testing, pipeline deployments) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform.

• Comfortable navigating the data engineering ecosystem and quickly learning new tools as well as recommending effective ones.

• Experience with batch, micro-batch, and real-time streaming architectures.

• Strong communication skills for both internal and customer-facing interactions.

• Experience with relational database management systems and change data capture (CDC) is advantageous.
