Senior Data Engineer – Cloud Data Platforms, Lakehouse

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Arab Emirates (UAE).

📋 Description

• Create and implement batch or streaming data pipelines that integrate operational databases, APIs, files, and event sources.

• Develop sustainable data models and transformations for analytics, governed metrics, and AI applications.

• Execute lakehouse or warehouse architectures, incorporating storage formats, partitioning, and processing strategies.

• Set up data quality tests, orchestration, lineage, monitoring, and recovery protocols.

• Analyze incidents and eliminate recurring issues.

• Oversee infrastructure and deployments using version control, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD practices.

• Implement suitable access controls.

• Lead technical project delivery in collaboration with customers and team members.

• Conduct code reviews and document operational and extension decisions.

• Integrate implementation with platform architecture and provide practical technical consulting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in delivering and managing production data platforms, including accountability for technical decisions and service reliability.

• Proficient in Python and SQL.

• Strong understanding of data modeling.

• Practical knowledge of distributed processing and orchestration.

• Expertise in at least one major environment such as AWS, Snowflake, Databricks, or Google Cloud.

• Capacity to evaluate technology alternatives.

• Familiarity with dbt, Airflow, or Dagster.

• Experience with testing, Git, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation.

• Ability to articulate performance and cost trade-offs.

• Skills to define the scope of deliverables.

• Effective communication with both technical and business stakeholders in English.

• Experience with Apache Iceberg, Spark, Kafka, Terraform, or data foundations for RAG and AI agents is a plus.

• AWS or other relevant certifications are beneficial, although demonstrable delivery experience is paramount.
