Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the data platform roadmap: Collaborate with stakeholders, Engineering, and Product teams to identify their requirements and translate them into actionable platform capabilities.

• Transform data sharing into a product: We currently manage a diverse array of data that is vital for our clients' operations and business intelligence. You will design and implement a secure, scalable self-service data-sharing tool that enables the onboarding of new clients without the need for custom code.

• Manage data Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Our entire infrastructure is governed using Pulumi. You will enhance and maintain resources on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) including BigQuery, GCS, Cloud Run, and Dataflow, with a continuous focus on organization, security, and cost efficiency.

• Develop data products for our clients: Create insight APIs and architect the necessary infrastructure to present metrics, reports, and dashboards directly to Wave customers. You will collaborate with Product and Engineering to establish contracts and schemas, ensuring low-latency and highly reliable deliveries.

• Establish the environment for machine learning workloads: As we begin integrating AI models into our products, you will ensure that our data architecture (granularity, storage patterns) is optimized for AI readiness, paving the way for future solutions such as churn prediction, plan optimization, and anti-fraud measures.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in data engineering and the development of data platforms.

• Capability to lead the data function in a rapidly evolving company and create enterprise-grade solutions.

• Proficient in Python and well-versed in software engineering best practices. Comfortable with configuring monitoring, CI/CD pipelines, and recognizing the importance of testing throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Strong SQL proficiency and expertise in modeling entities and data schemas.

• Experience with GCP (BigQuery, Cloud Run, Dataflow) or similar technologies. Proficient in defining infrastructure using Pulumi or Terraform.

• Product-focused mindset. You prioritize understanding the reasons behind building something, not just the methods of implementation.

• A team player who can elevate the entire team’s performance through code reviews, mentoring, or knowledge sharing in Slack channels.
