Senior Data Engineer

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and data warehouse architecture using BigQuery. Take ownership of the infrastructure from start to finish and continually enhance it as the business expands.

• Define and execute data models and dbt transformations that are clean, thoroughly tested, and built for longevity, adhering to strong standards for CI/CD, code review, and documentation.

• Ensure the quality and reliability of data across all systems through validation, monitoring, anomaly detection, and comprehensive data contracts and lineage documentation.

• Collaborate with Data Analytics, Finance, Product, Marketing, and Engineering teams to provide clean, accessible data for decision-making. Simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

• Lead projects from initial scoping through to delivery, setting high standards for the team's engineering practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, preferably within a high-growth SaaS or consumer tech company, with a proven history of managing production-grade pipelines and data warehouse solutions.

• Proficient in Python and SQL.

• Extensive experience with dbt on BigQuery (or similar platforms).

• Strong practices in Git and CI/CD.

• Familiar with GCP and orchestration tools such as Airflow or Fivetran.

• Solid understanding of data warehousing principles, including dimensional modeling, ETL/ELT design, query optimization, and data quality frameworks.

• Strong knowledge of building data models for AI (we utilize Claude).

• Excellent communicator capable of leading projects, mentoring colleagues, and collaborating cross-functionally without requiring constant guidance.

• Self-motivated and ownership-driven; comfortable making decisions amidst ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
