Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Construct and oversee resilient ETL/ELT pipelines utilizing BigQuery, Dataflow, and Cloud Composer.

• Create high-performance SQL scripts for intricate data transformations, ensuring precision across various datasets.

• Assist in the design and enhancement of Star/Snowflake data models.

• Detect and address bottlenecks in data pipelines, optimizing query performance and cloud cost-effectiveness.

• Collaborate with Data Analysts and stakeholders to convert business logic, such as churn rates or claims ratios, into technical specifications.

• Engage in peer code reviews.

• Keep documentation updated for the long-term sustainability of the data warehouse.

• Undertake additional data engineering-related tasks or projects as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience in data engineering, particularly within cloud-based data warehouses.

• Strong background in the Google Cloud ecosystem, including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and IAM best practices.

• Advanced SQL skills, encompassing window functions, recursive CTEs, and query plan analysis.

• Deep understanding of indexing, partitioning, clustering, and the data warehousing lifecycle management.

• Familiarity with metrics typical in SaaS (MRR, Churn) or Insurance (Premiums, Claims, Actuarial data) is highly desirable.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Demonstrated experience collaborating with US-based business teams.

• Capability to work during core US business hours / time zone expectations, with overlap in Eastern Standard Time (EST).

• A quiet and dedicated workspace for productivity.

• Candidates with experience in IT/Data for a publicly-owned company based in the United States are preferred.
