Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable full-stack applications.

• Create and implement RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven solutions.

• Convert business requirements into technical designs and implementation strategies.

• Develop reusable components, application frameworks, and shared services.

• Lead and engage in architecture reviews, technical design discussions, and code evaluations.

• Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior developers and project teams.

• Establish and advocate for engineering best practices, coding standards, and development methodologies.

• Analyze business and technical requirements, assessing system impacts, dependencies, and risks.

• Offer effort estimates, technical advice, and implementation approaches.

• Collaborate with solution architects, product owners, and stakeholders to define scalable solutions.

• Support production applications and troubleshoot complex issues across UI, middleware, messaging platforms, and databases.

• Monitor application performance and identify opportunities for optimization and automation.

• Participate in on-call rotations and incident management activities.

• Develop automated unit, integration, and regression tests.

• Drive continuous improvement in application performance, security, reliability, and maintainability.

• Contribute to Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, retrospectives, and release activities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree with 4 years of experience in software application development, data engineering, and cloud platforms, OR a High School Diploma or GED with 8 years of experience in software application development and data integrations in cloud platforms.

• Preferred educational background: Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.

• Preferred experience: Over 5 years of software engineering experience developing enterprise-scale applications.

• Proficient in building web applications using React.js and JavaScript/TypeScript.

• Strong background in developing backend services with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.

• Experience implementing event-driven architecture with Kafka.

• Familiarity with Python for automation, data processing, or backend services.

• Advanced SQL development and database design skills with Oracle and Netezza.

• Experience in designing and consuming REST APIs.

• Knowledge of GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, Jira, and Confluence.

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

• Excellent communication skills for conveying technical information clearly and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes is preferred.

• Experience in financial services, banking, risk management, treasury, forecasting, or regulatory reporting environments is highly desirable.
