Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and optimize intricate SQL Server solutions, with a strong focus on performance tuning, indexing, and data modeling.

• Manage both relational and semi-structured data, including JSON stored in SQL Server and multi-dimensional datasets.

• Query and modify JSON using SQL Server's native tools such as OPENJSON and JSON_VALUE.

• Utilize PowerShell, SQL Server tools, and scripting to automate various processes.

• Enhance functionalities through integration with APIs and external systems.

• Tackle issues comprehensively, emphasizing end-to-end solutions that extend beyond the database layer.

• Function within a complex, multi-system application environment while steering clear of isolated reporting or analytics tasks.

• Investigate and implement LLM-driven workflows, including effective prompting and structured outputs.

• Continuously improve efficiency by substituting manual processes with automated solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong proficiency in SQL Server, with expertise in query performance, indexing, and data modeling.

• Experience in handling JSON within SQL Server and managing hybrid data models.

• Familiarity with PowerShell or similar scripting languages for automation tasks.

• Ability to operate across various systems, including databases, APIs, and services.

• Demonstrated capability to deliver effective solutions promptly.

• Experience working in smaller teams with complete system ownership.

• Background in complex application environments rather than isolated reporting or analytics scenarios.

• Skilled in navigating and resolving issues without requiring detailed specifications.

• Experience in regulated, transaction-heavy fields such as insurance or financial services.

• Proficient in Python, with a good understanding of APIs and integrations.

• Familiarity with LLMs such as OpenAI and Claude.

• Experience in developing internal tools or automation frameworks.
