This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Assist in steering projects within the team's domain from conceptualization to execution.
• Transform normalized operational data into well-structured dimensional models (Kimball/star schema) that reflect how commonsku functions across orders, distributors, suppliers, products, and revenue.
• Enhance data reliability and performance by optimizing queries, increasing test coverage, and addressing pipeline reliability challenges.
• Establish and maintain canonical metric definitions in our dbt marts to ensure every dashboard utilized a unified source of truth.
• Create accessible infrastructure in Snowflake and Metabase to empower analysts and business users to confidently answer questions, while also engaging in deep, hands-on analysis when necessary.
• Offer support, direction, and constructive code reviews to our Data Engineer and Data Analyst.
• Collaborate closely with the Manager of Platform and Data, as well as Product Managers, to translate business objectives into a technical roadmap.
• Incorporate AI development tools such as Cursor, CodeRabbit, and Snowflake Intelligence/Cortex to enhance efficiency, while actively validating and refining their outputs.
• Over 5 years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a related role, preferably in a SaaS or product-focused environment.
• Extensive production experience with SQL, dbt, and a cloud data warehouse (such as Snowflake or similar), along with proficiency in Python for analytics tooling and automation.
• Comprehensive understanding of dimensional modeling, relational databases, managed ingestion (Fivetran), and designing BI environments (Metabase) for self-service use.
• A demonstrated history of mentoring and developing engineers or analysts, with an emphasis on fostering a healthy, collaborative, and inclusive team culture.
• A balance of technical expertise with practical business considerations, a strong sense of customer empathy, and a commitment to ongoing growth and feedback.
• Experience effectively utilizing AI-assisted development tools and exploring how AI can enhance daily workflows.
• Familiarity with Snowflake AI tooling (or similar) to expedite solutions for business requirements.
