Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Design and develop scalable ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines using Databricks within the Azure Cloud environment.

• Engage in data modeling and the construction of lakehouse architectures (e.g., Delta Lake, medallion model, dimensional modeling).

• Automate and optimize data flows to enhance performance, quality, and stability.

• Integrate and transform data from diverse sources into data warehouses or lakehouse settings.

• Execute best practices in data governance, monitoring, and security.

• Mentor junior team members and actively contribute to establishing our technical standards.

• Collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and consultants to provide data-driven solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in (business) computer science, data science, or a related discipline.

• Multiple years of project experience in constructing and managing modern data platforms.

• Extensive technical proficiency in Databricks, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, Python (pandas, PySpark), and SQL.

• Strong understanding of data modeling techniques (e.g., Star Schema, Data Vault, Lakehouse).

• Expertise in ETL/ELT processes, performance tuning, and workflow orchestration.

• Comfortable working within cloud environments, preferably Microsoft Azure.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Apache Kafka, or Apache Airflow is a plus.

• Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance standards.

• Databricks certifications (e.g., Certified Data Engineer Associate or Professional) are advantageous.

• Strong analytical thinking, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative approach.

• Proficiency in German (both written and spoken) and good command of English.
