Senior Data Engineer – Applied AI, Python, Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• You will become a part of a team dedicated to creating AI-driven accelerators that produce accurate, idiomatic, and production-ready code across leading cloud data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, and AWS.

• Your responsibilities will include developing platform adapters, incorporating platform-specific correctness rules into validators and evaluation layers, and designing high-value generation targets, which encompass ingestion pipelines, transformation logic, warehouse/catalog scaffolding, orchestration, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), and governance accelerators (data contracts, lineage, metadata, Personally Identifiable Information (PII), data quality).

• You will collaborate closely with delivery teams and design partners to ensure that the outputs are reviewable, adopted, and effectively utilized.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer, demonstrating a successful history of end-to-end delivery in dynamic environments.

• Proficient in English, with exceptional cross-team collaboration skills and the ability to mentor others.

• A solid understanding of engineering and architectural best practices, with comfort in CI/CD and Git-based workflows.

• Strong software engineering capabilities in production, including Python, testing, CI/CD, REST, and Docker.

• In-depth knowledge of at least one modern cloud data platform (Databricks/Spark, Snowflake, or BigQuery), excellent SQL and data modeling abilities, and the capacity to analyze across other platforms.

• Hands-on AI engineering experience, including prompt design, structured outputs, function calling, and evaluation, utilizing Anthropic and/or OpenAI APIs.

• Familiarity with code-as-data workflows, including code generation, templating, and the validation/parsing of generated code for review.
