This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct region-specific market analysis on civil, structural, and architectural components, including labor availability for civil trades, commodity trends for concrete and steel, local regulations affecting sitework, and other cost-related factors.
• Keep thorough records of historical project expenditures, encompassing labor, materials, and equipment.
• Examine historical data to uncover trends, patterns, and opportunities for cost optimization.
• Create conceptual budgets for CSA scope elements based on market analysis and the project’s requirements.
• Prepare comprehensive estimates for labor, materials, and equipment, considering project complexity and location.
• Produce cost variance reports at key design milestones to monitor trends, inform stakeholder decisions, and identify value-engineering opportunities.
• Lead and assist with takeoffs using Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, or comparable tools.
• Request and evaluate pricing from subcontractors and vendors for structural steel, precast, tilt-up, mass concrete pours, etc.
• Collaborate with general contractors and trade partners to reconcile project costs and ensure alignment with scope.
• Provide assistance for change order forensics and perform cost reconciliation with trade partners as needed to confirm pricing accuracy.
• Conduct thorough constructability reviews concentrating on civil, structural, and architectural scopes to spot potential challenges and design improvements.
• Work with project stakeholders to implement value-engineering solutions that enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Aid in the creation of comprehensive RFP documentation for civil, structural, and architectural scopes, including specifications, scope of work, and evaluation criteria.
• Ensure clarity and precision in RFP documents to facilitate competitive bidding and selection.
• Assist with bid-leveling by gathering and analyzing data for informed decisions, evaluating contractor proposals based on experience, qualifications, and cost competitiveness.
• Participate in GC/contractor selection meetings and provide insights on firm suitability.
• Draft specific language for RFPs to guarantee accurate scope definitions and requirements.
• Coordinate with bidders during the procurement stage.
• Assist with pre-bid RFIs by reviewing and responding to associated inquiries.
• Support the coordination and execution of site walks focused on relevant elements.
• Conduct bid leveling for proposals to compare and normalize submissions, and hold post-bid interviews with bidders to clarify assumptions, resolve discrepancies, and negotiate terms.
• Occasional travel to project sites for kick-offs, pre-bid walks, and constructability reviews.
• 4+ years of estimating experience with a strong focus on civil, structural, and architectural scopes in mission-critical, data center, or other heavy industrial projects.
• Demonstrated ability to estimate projects with a total construction value exceeding $50M, with a deep concentration in these areas.
• Capability to perform quantity takeoffs for concrete (both cast-in-place and precast), structural steel, masonry, roofing, waterproofing, and sitework.
• Proficient in estimating software (Destini, RIB CostX, WinEst, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong understanding of challenges specific to data centers.
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment while collaborating with the estimating team.
