Senior Data Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Facilitate architectural strategy discussions with client leadership to ensure that data platform initiatives are aligned with business goals and yield measurable results.

• Serve as the senior technical representative in client engagements, converting intricate architectural choices into business outcomes for both technical and executive audiences.

• Oversee client relationships from an architectural standpoint, fostering trust through technical proficiency and strategic insight.

• Direct cross-functional teams of data engineers, data scientists, and analytics experts in the design and deployment of scalable, cloud-native data platforms.

• Assist teams in planning and execution by providing architectural guidance and eliminating technical obstacles throughout the delivery process.

• Guide team members on cloud architecture best practices, principles of data modeling, and emerging technologies.

• Design and execute robust AWS-based data lake architectures utilizing Medallion (Bronze/Silver/Gold) patterns, managing trade-offs in storage strategies, partitioning approaches, and schema evolution.

• Spearhead the transition of legacy data structures and systems to modern cloud platforms, formulating migration strategies that minimize risks and enhance business continuity.

• Create solutions that balance performance, cost, scalability, and maintainability across intricate data ecosystems.

• Collaborate with Data & Analytics Managers and business stakeholders to convert business needs into practical, scalable architectural decisions.

• Establish data models, integration patterns, and platform capabilities that directly support business use cases and analytics requirements.

• Navigate complex, siloed data environments to craft practical solutions that deliver incremental value.

• Design data platforms that inherently support AI and ML workloads, encompassing feature engineering pipelines, feature stores, model training data preparation, and inference serving infrastructure.

• Develop MLOps capabilities as an integral part of the platform, ensuring seamless integration of machine learning lifecycle management.

• Implement solutions utilizing agentic AI technologies to enhance data management, automate data quality workflows, and improve analytics capabilities.

• Provide guidance on governance models (centralized vs. federated) suitable for organizational structure and data maturity.

• Apply Data Mesh principles to facilitate domain-oriented ownership while preserving platform-level standards and interoperability.

• Define data quality frameworks, metadata management strategies, and security/privacy controls that are scalable across distributed architectures.

• Incorporate AI tools and methodologies into daily architectural tasks, showcasing innovative approaches to design, documentation, and problem-solving.

• Stay updated on emerging data and AI technologies, assessing their relevance to client challenges and integrating them into platform strategies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in data architecture roles with a strong emphasis on cloud technologies, particularly AWS.

• Advanced proficiency in English (C1 or higher) is necessary for client interactions, technical documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.

• Proven experience in designing data platforms that prioritize AI and ML workloads, including feature engineering, feature stores, and model serving infrastructure.

• Demonstrated expertise in transitioning legacy data systems and executing migration strategies to modern cloud platforms.

• Familiarity with agentic AI technologies and a passion for implementing AI-driven solutions within the data architecture domain.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to tackle complex and ambiguous data architecture challenges.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to diverse audiences including executives, engineers, and business stakeholders.

• An AI-first mindset with practical experience using AI tools in daily technical activities.

• Experience with AWS Medallion Architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold layers) and data lake design patterns.

• Knowledge of Data Mesh principles and federated data governance models.
