Senior Data Architect – AI, AI-Assisted Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.

📋 Description

• Design and execute scalable architectures for data warehouses and lakehouses on the Cloudera platform.

• Establish enterprise data models, governance frameworks, data stewardship processes, security standards, and practices for data quality.

• Architect and enhance analytical solutions across SQL engines such as Impala, Hive, and Iceberg.

• Create AI-driven analytics solutions utilizing large language models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases (including PostgreSQL, Qdrant, Milvus), and natural language querying (NLQ) capabilities.

• Spearhead the integration of AI/ML functionalities into enterprise data platforms and data pipelines while implementing governance protocols for AI models, data utilization, and lifecycle management.

• Utilize vibe coding and AI-assisted development tools to expedite development processes and boost productivity.

• Develop and enhance batch and near real-time data pipelines.

• Partner with business stakeholders to convert business requirements into scalable data products and analytical solutions.

• Set best practices for performance enhancement, data architecture, and AI-assisted development.

• Guide teams on contemporary data architecture and AI-enabled development methodologies.

• Ensure data security, governance, compliance, and ethical AI practices within enterprise data platforms and AI-enabled solutions.

• Collaborate with stakeholders across FP&A, Sales, and Revenue Operations to translate business needs into scalable data solutions that support financial forecasting, revenue optimization, budgeting, pipeline analysis, and sales forecasting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field with 5-6 years of relevant experience; OR a Master’s degree with 3-5 years of related experience; OR a PhD with 0-3 years of relevant experience.

• Extensive knowledge in enterprise data warehousing, lakehouse architectures, and Cloudera-based data platforms.

• Strong experience with CDP, including HDFS, Hive, Impala, Kudu, and Cloudera's data ingestion and processing frameworks.

• Solid understanding of distributed data systems and Hadoop-based architectures.

• Advanced SQL capabilities, including performance tuning and query optimization.

• Proficiency in Python and data engineering frameworks.

• Experience with both dimensional and normalized data modeling.

• Comprehensive understanding of data governance, lineage, metadata management, data cataloging, enterprise security, and compliance standards.

• Experience in implementing AI governance practices, including model governance, AI risk management, explainability, monitoring, and responsible AI controls.

• Practical experience in deploying AI/ML, LLM, vector database, and RAG-based solutions in production settings.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (such as GitHub Copilot and LLM-driven workflows).

• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving abilities.

• Capability to align enterprise data architecture with business goals in Finance, Sales, and Revenue Operations.

• Ability to connect traditional data platforms with modern AI functionalities.
