Senior Data Analyst, Finance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Conduct thorough analysis and reporting on inventory balances, reserves, gross margin, and cost of goods sold (COGS).

• Prepare and deliver financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc basis.

• Assist in the month-end closing process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.

• Support the forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis processes.

• Create and maintain dashboards, reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

• Collaborate with operations teams to address discrepancies in physical inventory.

• Analyze inventory transactions, roll-forwards, cost variances, and obsolescence reserves.

• Work in partnership with supply chain and operations teams on COGS reporting and inventory valuation.

• Provide insights regarding inventory turnover, shrinkage, and operational inefficiencies.

• Maintain pricing grids and the infrastructure for costing data.

• Develop advanced SQL queries and establish data pipelines across multiple systems.

• Build analytical models and enhance automation and standardization of reporting.

• Identify and execute improvements in financial processes.

• Support the design of workflows and tools for inventory management and financial reporting.

• Collaborate with supply chain, operations, accounting, IT, and ERP teams.

• Prepare documentation for audits and assist with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Economics.

• 3–5 years of financial analysis and accounting experience, ideally in inventory, COGS, or a related field.

• CPA or CMA certification is a plus.

• Experience in retail, wholesale, or e-commerce sectors is highly preferred.

• Strong understanding of US GAAP, particularly regarding inventory and COGS accounting.

• Practical experience with ERP systems; SAP is preferred.

• Familiarity with financial reporting tools.

• Advanced analytical skills with the capability to interpret complex data and make recommendations.

• High proficiency in Excel.

• Experience with Tableau, Alteryx, and/or Power BI.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.

• Ability to foster relationships across departments and work collaboratively.

• Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
